Manual Ball Valves

A manual ball valve is operated by turning the handle 90 degrees, so they are also called quarter-turn valves. The handle is connected directly to the ball through the stem. When the handle direction is parallel to the connecting pipe or hose, the ball valve is open, allowing media to flow from the inlet through the bore to the outlet. When the handle direction is perpendicular to the connecting pipe or hose, the valve is closed, obstructing the media flow through the valve. This allows for easy visual identification of whether a two-way ball valve is open or closed.

Manual ball valves are one of the most common valves due to their simple operation, reliability, long service life, and wide range of applications. Manual ball valves are either 2-way or 3-way. 2-way manual ball valves (shut-off valve) have two ports: an inlet and an outlet. The valve opens or closes to pass or stop the media from one port to the other. 3-way manual ball valves have three ports. The bore in the ball is not straight but rather in an L or T shape. 3-way valves distribute, mix, or divert flow in the desired direction.
